Spring home maintenance checklist

Spring is for finding what winter broke and getting ready for summer: damaged shingles, overflowing gutters, a mower that will not start, an air conditioner that has not run in months.

Your home has…

Due soon

Saved you some time? Leave a tip, entirely optional.

This page opens UpkeepCalendar filtered to March, April and May in the northern hemisphere. Tick off jobs as you finish them and UpkeepCalendar remembers for next year.

How to use the maintenance calendar

Start with the list of home features. Every home gets the basics, such as smoke alarm tests, GFCI checks and leak checks under sinks. Tick the rest that apply: a furnace or heat pump, a water heater, gutters and roof, a yard, kitchen and laundry appliances, a fireplace, a deck, irrigation, a septic system, a well, a sump pump, a pool or hot tub and a garage door. The calendar on the right fills in the next twelve months, starting with the current one, and shows the season for each month.

Seasonal jobs are placed in the months they matter, such as cleaning gutters in spring and late fall and servicing the heating before winter. Repeating jobs such as filter changes are spread evenly through the year. Switch to the southern hemisphere and seasonal jobs move six months.

    Track what you have done

Tick a job in a month card, or press Done today in the Due soon list, and UpkeepCalendar records today as the last done date. From then on the job’s next due date is worked out from its interval, and it moves into Due soon two weeks before it is due, turning red once it is overdue. The summary tells you how many jobs your home needs and roughly how many hours a year they take, which is useful for budgeting time or deciding what to hire out.

    Calendar reminders and printing

Download calendar (.ics) creates one repeating all-day reminder per job, starting from the next due date. Open the file on your phone or computer to add the reminders to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook. Print checklist prints the month cards, filtered by season if you have chosen one.

    Private by design
